Online me vs. Real Life me

I love to blog. I love to write and document my life and the fun stuff I get to experience. Yet, with my job I do have to censor myself a good amount with what I post and share. It is funny that this post is in the Blog-tember line up because I honestly think about this quite a bit when I am blogging or even posting on social media. A sad reminder of why I have to watch myself online so much was last year. Someone I work with printed my blog and gave it to a co-worker in an effort to get me in trouble. For what, I am not sure since it was about trips, and just general things I had been doing like shopping. I am unsure why this was done because my writing is pretty low key but it definitely made me rethink the online me versus the real life me. I am smart enough to never write names or give specifics when posting and this blog is about no one but me in all reality. I mean, lets get real. I live in a country where online slander is a huge no no, as in illegal (as is printing out peoples blogs or pictures and using them for defamation purposes) so you just use your head. As my mom used to always tell me, if you don't want people to know it, don't write it. So everything here is information I am comfortable sharing.

So the on-line me I guess is a good amount more reserved. I take care with what I write and what content I use. The real life, face to face Mistie is much more upfront, direct, no fluff, and sometimes a little harsh. I believe in being a straight shooter and not pretending that I like certain things or people. If I don't care for you, that is it. I am not going to be fake or go out of my way to interact with people that I don't prefer. That is just me. I learned a long time ago that I don't need to waste time on people that I don't want in my circle. That is just who I am.

Of course, online I don't have to worry about being around people I don't care for because it is a virtual interaction. I definitely voice my opinions when I want but I am more careful of the wordage I use. Tone is funny thing on the internet so I recognize you do have to be mindful of that. I guess online I definitely pick my words much more carefully and I am able to retract what I 'say' if I give myself the second thought of 'oh that sounded bad' or it might come off wrong. In person no one has that luxury.

I guess you could say I am similar both in real life and on line I am just able to catch myself online when I am articulating thoughts. Whereas in person, sometimes I forget my filter.

Going Worldwide

I am moving to Abu Dhabi!!!!

Nothing like a nice strong lead in, right? Just rip that bandaid off!!

Yes, so this has been my life for the last week. I have totally been MIA lately because this was too big of a secret to not dish about on the blog but I had to keep it under wraps until it was completely legit, sign, sealed, and delivered. Yes, Abu Dhabi which is located in the United Arab Emirates, aka in the Middle East #shitjustgotreal

While it is a life changing decision, it is a great opportunity for myself and my husband. I will be an academic principal there with a focus on teacher development, scheduling, classes, curriculum, etc. Basically all of the things that I want to do. Stoked is an understatement.

So lets talk about the 9,402 things that I need to get nailed down prior to going ..

1. Packing what I can take.
Let's elaborate on what I can take - two suitcases that cannot weigh more than 70 pounds. Ummm... FML. how do you pick? What is important? What can be left behind? I thought I was going to be slick and just pay the bag overages to take an additional bag or ten. Yeah, not to the tune of $175 per bag.  I am smarter than the average bear, I will figure out something. Let's be real, my purses need a whole suitcase.

2. Selling stuff
Who knew that once you have to choose things you have to prioritize how important items are to you. I guess I can embrace the living simplistically but damn, this is hard. I guess this is also showing me how materialistic I can be. I'll work on that. Maybe.

3. Speaking of Selling stuff, I am trying to utilize all of my resources and work smarter not harder since this is stressful as hell. So I made an Instagram that I will feature different items on; check it out: @Mistiesmoving   Cutesy right?

4. Guess I should tell my landlord we are out like trout, huh?

You know this probably wouldn't be such an ordeal but I have never lived anywhere but Florida. I have only moved down the street, maybe 5 minutes of my last residence so this is a huge experience for me. Let's go ahead and throw in all of the international paperwork, visas, and hoops and it makes for a damn good time. I am excited but at the same time I have said more than 10 times in the last few days, "Is this really happening? Are we really doing this?"

While it has been a long process, it is finally happening. I still have about 8 weeks before I leave, could be shorter, could be longer. It is a waiting game now before I get my paperwork back from Washington, D.C. from being authenticated.

So while I wait... maybe I should fill some bins up...

About me

I'm Mistie aka Sparkles dubbed from my love of all things glittery, shimmery, and of course covered in sparkles. It just kind of stuck and well here we are. I figured it just fit what I wanted this blog to be. A little of this and a little of that. I do enjoy writing, but I have trouble sticking to the script. I can be somewhat erratic and lose my focus but then again, I think it keeps things interesting. I definitely have a weakness for designer handbags and MAC make up but I really am not too much of a girly-girl. I can get dirty if I have to; I just don't prefer too. I will leave the grimy to the boys and stay in the air conditioning.

I am married to my husband who I met in 2003.  We were definitely voted most likely to never be a couple but hey - opposites attract and we really do compliment each other well.

We have 3 furbabies that are my whole entire heart. I blog about them often and I brag on them just like regular moms do. I am definitely an animal lover and these dogs are completely rotten. I'm not sure how that happened.

When I am not working (hahaha) I am enjoying some photography, selling Jamberry Nails, and working my arse off in the gym. I LOVE boxing! It is such  great release and it is killer on calories. So this blog covers it all and more I am sure. I love to network, meet new people, and keep in touch. I am an Instagram fool & a Facebook junkie. So this is just going to be another little addiction ;-)

Thanks for checking in. Feel free to leave any comments or pointers for this newbie blogger!
